Pacific Railroad of Missouri. Records, 1869 | Illinois History and Lincoln Collections
This collection contains a photocopy of an extract from a minute book of the Pacific Railroad of Missouri's Board of Directors. The extract concerns a petition from members of the Board who served as lobbyists for the railroad during the Civil War. In their request for a claim adjustment, they explain their services in securing payment from the Federal Government for military use of the Pacific Railroad and in obtaining a bill from the state legislature in March 1868 that enabled the business to restructure its organization, thereby preventing a take-over by eastern capitalists.
The Archives of the Missouri Pacific Lines, Missouri Pacific Building, St. Louis, photocopied this portion of the railroad's minute book for the Illinois Historical Survey in 1973.
