This collection contains transcripts and microfilm of materials in the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. The transcripts include the "Journal of a March from Fort Pitt to Venango and from thence to Presqu' Isle," "Extract from Gordon's Journal Down the Ohio, 1766," "Remarks on the Country of Illinois," and a 1784 letter from Hutchins to Thomas Jefferson describing the topography of the Illinois country.
The microfilm contains papers of Hutchins, supplemented by hand-drawn maps, relating to his geographical findings and the publication of his maps.
