Scope and Contents:
This collection contains ledger books relating to farms in Champaign County, Ill. James Thomson (1819-1890) made entries in two volumes, mainly between 1857 and 1873, for his land in Crittenden Township. Two more volumes contain entries between 1912 and 1947 by Thomson's daughter Sarah and her husband William W. Wise. The collection also contains four photographs of threshing in the early twentieth century.
The collection, part of which was loaned for microfilming in 1975, was donated to the Illinois Historical Survey in 1991, by Roscoe C. Wise and Roscoe E. Wise. The microfilm reel contains six stock breeding certificates and a photograph of James Thomson that are not included in the manuscript collection.
