Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of photocopies of the complete meeting minutes of the Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council from 1969 to 1988.
The Illinois Historic Sites Advisory Council reviews all nominations to the state or national Registers of Historic Places and makes recommendations to that office. The Council was established as an adjunct to the State Historic Preservation Office in 1969 by executive order of Governor Richard B. Ogilvie.
The meeting minutes summarize the Council's discussions of various historic sites under consideration as well as various administrative matters related to the Council. The minutes in the first two folders (1969, parts 1 and 2) are arranged in reverse chronological order, the minutes in the third folder (1970) are in no discernable order, and the minutes in the remaining folders (1971-1988) are arranged in chronological order.
Richard S. Taylor of the Historic Sites Division, Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, donated this collection to the Library from 1989 to 1990.
