This collection consists of transcripts of election returns from 1860-1862 from the Illinois Secretary of State Office.
The collection contains transcripts of election returns from elections in November 1860, June 1861, June 1862, and November 1862. The November 1860 returns document the elections for governor, lieutenant governor, president, congressmen, state treasurer, secretary of state, state auditor, superintendent of public instruction, and for a convention to amend the Illinois State Constitution. The June 1861 returns record vote totals for the State Supreme Court and a banking law. The June 1862 returns record vote totals for a new state constitution, a bank currency law, and a congressional reappointment. The November 1862 returns document the election for treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, and Members of Congress at large and by district. These transcripts were created by Solon J. Buck in 1923.
