Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains microfilm copies of various South Carolina colonial records, including Commons House Journals, 1706-61; Council and Upper House Journals, 1721-74; and proceedings and minutes of the Council, 1734-69. The collection also contains the letterbook of Charles Garth, Provincial Agent of South Carolina, 1766-75, and the South Carolina "Indian Books" (Journal of Indian Commissions, 1710-15, 1716-18 and volumes II-VI, 1749-60).

Charles W. Paape made these copies for the Survey in 1941 from originals, transcripts, and photocopies in the Historical Commission of South Carolina.
