This collection consists of ephemera created by the Lincoln Centennial Association of Springfield, Illinois.
The Lincoln Centennial Association was founded in 1909 in Springfield, Illinois, to observe the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. In 1929, the organization was renamed the Abraham Lincoln Association at the suggestion of executive secretary Paul M. Angle. The scope of the organization has broadened to support Lincoln-related research; however, the Association continues to host an annual symposium and banquet commemorating the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln.
This collection contains ephemera such as invitations, programs, menus, pamphlets, tickets, table applications, and membership flyers from annual banquets held by the Lincoln Centennial Association, including banquets from 1916, 1917, 1923, 1925, and 1929. Items from 1917 were addressed to John Wesley Yantis of Shelbyville, Illinois, and items from 1923 were addressed to Bayard Lacey Catron of Springfield, Illinois.
The Library acquired these materials prior to 2008. The Yantis material was likely transferred from the John Wesley Yantis Papers.
