Caption below:  "Carl Sandburg (right), who was awarded an honorary degree from Illinois in 1953, looks over some of his collection of manuscripts with Prof. Robert B. Downs (left), director of the U. of I. Library, and Prof. Emeritus Bruce Weirick, who had much to do with getting the Sandburg collection here during this past summer. The material is being arranged in a suitable place in the main Library. It was bought with U. of I. Foundation funds."
