Publicity photo of the Home Economics Demonstration rail road car, a converted Pullman. Staffed by University Agriculture Extension Office employees Olive Percival and Floyd Fogle, the rail car traveled and provided information to rural farm families about labor-saving devices such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners and ice cream freezers. The railcar featured water and electric lighting systems, a septic tank, and home furnishings. The goal of the demonstration car was to show how power commonly used on the farm could also be used in performing housework.
