<p class='main'>The University of Illinois General Advisory Committee, whose name was changed to Citizens Committee in January 1947,<a href='#ftn1'><sup>1</sup></a> was established by the Board of Trustees in 1941 to advise the President on matters relating to the University's development and welfare and questions of policy.<a href='#ftn2'><sup>2</sup></a> Essentially, the Citizens Committee is a commmittee of citizens, not alumni of the University, who are appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve for four years. Included in the membership in an ex-officio capacity are the present and former members of the Board of Trustees, the officers and directors of the Alumni Association, the Dads' Association, the Mothers' Association, and the members of the advisory committees of the colleges and schools of the University.<a href='#ftn3'><sup>3</sup></a> The chairman of the Committee is appointed from its membership by the Board of Trustees on nomination of the President. The Committee holds meetings on call of the President.<a href='#ftn4'><sup>4</sup></a></p>
