Papers of Denton E. Alexander (1917-2004), Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics (1951-2004) include biographical materials; subject files; correspondence with professors, state officials, scholars, and members of the agricultural industry, including Robert Englesking, A. Kahler, Francesc Casanas, Bozo Kolic, Art Hook (Pfizer), and Josephine Pfister (Pfister); notes; publications; graphs; notes; publications (1960 - 2004) concerning maize breeding, high oil corn, corn protein analysis; maize genetics and Peruvian corn genetics. This series also includes an annotated copy of the 1865 Illinois House Bill to Establish Illinois Industrial University.

Denton Alexander held several positions at the University of Illinois, from 1951-2004, including Instructor, Assistant, and and Associate Professor in Plant Genetics, Dept. of Agronomy.  He Also served as Advisor to Ministry of Agriculture, Yugoslavia, 1957; Invitee, Ministry of Agriculture of the USSR, 1962; and  Consultant, Ford Foundation, 1965.
