Commission on Secondary Schools File (1970-1982) contains correspondence, rosters, agenda, proposals, statements, and minutes concerning conferences (1974-1975), Liaison Committee for Vocational/Occupational Schools (1972-1976), and accreditation.

The Commission on Secondary Schools was formed in 1916 when the Commission on Accredited Schools and Colleges was replaced by three commissions. The Commission was empowered to prepare standards subject to be met by secondary schools, to make such inspection of institutions as it deemed necessary, and to submit to the Executive Committee, for its approval and publication, lists of institutions which were found to conform to the standards prescribed.[1] According to the 1970 By-laws:

"The Commission on Secondary Schools shall establish policies and criteria for membership of secondary schools subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, and assist those secondary schools seeking membership in the Association; receive and consider annual reports from member schools and application for membership from secondary schools within the geographical territory of the Association....; make all necessary examinations and evaluations of member schools or applicants;...conduct workshops on current problems at both state and regional levels; establish committees to study matters of common concern to secondary schools..."[2]
