Papers of Homer D. Wilkes, assistant in the Military Science Department (1961-66), including a mimeographed history of the 747th Tank Battalion (1976) and supplement (1978) containing accounts of military action at the Omaha Beach landing in Normandy, Isigny, St. Lo, St. Germain de Tallerande, Picardy, Roer campaign (Meykstein to Koslar) Monchen-Gladbach, Rheinberg and Marl; comments of personnel, equipment and weapons; tank repair notebooks (1944-45); reports concerning relationships with the 29th Division and amphibious and military government assignments; and Lieutenant Wilkes' personnel file (1942-46).
