'34, branch librarian at the New York Public Library (1940-42, 1944-53), Chief of Extension Department at the Evansville, IN Public Library (1953-54), librarian at Decatur Public Library (1954-66) and Director of Rolling Prairie (Decatur), Lewis & Clark (Edwardsville, 1966-71) and Starved Rock (Ottawa) Library Systems (1964-77); including correspondence, publications, minutes, manuals, newsletters, reports, programs and clippings relating to public libraries, library administration, library systems, library automation, adult education, community groups and organizations (1944-66), automated bibliographic control (1950-53), library statistics (1957-69), adult education and salary survey (1958-63).  Mrs. Howe was a member and officer of local and national organizations including the American Library Association, Illinois Library Association (1959-85) AAUW (1953-88), Business and Professional Women's Club (1953-88), Homemakers Extension (1980-89), Hospice Organization (1978-85) and Zonta Clubs (1975-88).
