Description: Papers of Celia Burns Stendler Lavatelli (1912-1976), professor of Elementary and Early Childhood Education (1946-1976) including correspondence, recommendations, course and research materials, publications, drafts, and material related to professional associations, conferences and workshops. This series contains material relating to early childhood education and especially to Piagetian research culminating in Lavatelli's Early Childhood Curriculum, revision of Child Behavior and Development (1952, 1959) and of Readings in Child Behavior and Development (1954, 1964, 1972). Other activities represented include her role as consultant to educators and school officials, and her research on overdependent children, on cooperative and competitive social situations among children, on high mathematical ability, and on child and adolescent development in France, China and Hong Kong.
