Papers of Arthur S. Davis Jr., Associate Architect (1943-65), consisting of Contract Project Specification manuals containing forms describing university procedures and agreements with contractors for construction and remodeling projects on university buildings.  Contract Specification book for 1948-53 describes general conditions of contracts, bonding of workmen, insurance, bidding procedure, blank cost estimate proposals (to be completed by bidders), waivers of lien, and budgets.  For the period 1952-63 notebooks deal with bidding procedure, instruction to bidders proposal forms, general conditions of contracts (as outlined by the American Institute of Architects), supplementary general conditions which were University amendments to the A.L.A. conditions (these include statements regarding non-discrimination by contractors) and contract agreement forms.  This series includes proposals and contracts as samples including remodeling projects at the Illini Union, the Library (air conditioning), Law Building and the Auditorium (fire protection), and specifications and files on the Men's Residence Halls (1940), Lincoln Avenue Residence Halls (1946), Fine Arts Building (1947), Chicago Undergraduate Campus (1954), Veterinary Medicine Research Annex (1961-63).

The series also includes Davis' architectural reference file, building program files (1953-67) and related records.  The series includes architectural notebooks (1930), a typed bound book called "Book of the Allerton American Traveling Scholarship for 1930, two photo albums containing images of buildings visited while traveling on scholarship, and one photo copy of the original notebook in which Arthur Davis took notes during the Allerton Scholarship trip, summer, 1930.
