Films Project File containing correspondence, reports, schedules, scripts, tapes, transcriptions, notes and 8 mm film cartridges for projects in mathematics education and instructional techniques funded by the National Educational Television and Radio Center (NETRC, 1958-61) and the National Science Foundation (NSF, 1962-66). The series includes administrative files, grantor correspondence, reports of film classes, distribution plans and records, film commitments, appraisal correspondence, production records, and the correspondence, meetings and trips files and publications of Gertrude Hendrix, Project Content Director. Correspondents include Charles Allen, Gertrude Hendrix, Stanley Jencks, Margaret Lowenfeld, Margaret Mead and Herbert Wills and Projector at 4-7.
In December 1951, the Colleges of Education, Engineering and Liberal Arts and Sciences established the University of Illinois Committee on School Mathematics (UICSM) to investigate a new pedagogy for high school mathematics.1 Since then, UICSM has developed instructional materials for use in grades 7-12, for experimental use throughout the country.2
In 1971, the Mathematics Curriculum Development Project (UICSM) was first listed.3
