The concerts and Entertainment Board is a committee composed of faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students who oversee the student-run organization Star Course.1 The precedent for Star Course came from the Philomathean and Adelphic literary societies founded in 1868. These groups soon began to sponsor entertainments and speeches by notable Americans.2 In 1927 the Board of Trustees granted to Star Course the supervision of all professional musical attractions at the University.3 The Star Course, a non-profit organization, is managed by students who are selected through interviews.4
