Name: Bean, Norma Haldene (1934-)

Historical Note: Norma Haldene Bean (1934- ) is an alumna of the University and educator. Born near Blue Mound, Illinois to parents Haldane and Agnes Bean, Norma Bean grew up in Urbana. As an elementary student, she learned to play clarinet and participated in several solo contests. She attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a bachelors in accountancy in 1955. While she was a student, she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She returned to the University of Illinois, earning a masters degree in music education in 1963. Following this she worked for the Champaign public schools.
