Description: File of the All-University Committee on Community Problems which was set up to integrate and coordinate activities of departments in their contacts with Illinois communities in the areas of community research and service. The committee helped to coordinate the research activities of some departments where such work could be beneficial to state agencies and other interested groups. Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Education, Business Management, Civil Engineering, Community Planning, Educational Research, Forestry, Geography, Geological Survey, Government and Public Affairs, Agricultural Extension, Horticulture, Library, Marketing, Music, Natural History Survey, Physical Education, Small Homes Council, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, and Water Survey were involved in the committee work.
The file includes Committee minutes (1956-61) dealing with Wabash Valley Committee, Rend Lake Subcommittee, Subcommittee on Drainage and Flood Control, metropolitan school districts, Ford Foundation proposal (March 5, 1959 minutes) and highway research.
