Historical Note: Constance "Connie" Marie Ashmore Fairchild grew up in Pearl City, Illinois. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ashmore, she attended the University of Illinois, earning both her bachelors in history in 1960 and her masters degree in library and information sciences in 1961. As an undergraduate, she performed baritone/euphonium with the second regimental band and was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta. She married Frederick Fairchild in 1974. Fairchild has played euphonium with the Parkland Band since 1979.
