Professor Carl S. Marvel, University alum and professor of chemistry, stands with a bottle of Treonine, an amino acid that was discovered at the University. A caption accompanying the image states that there is $300 worth of the substance in the jar that Dr. Marvel holds and that the University produced six pounds of the substance the previous summer, which could be sold for $900 per pound.
