David Cubberly (1980- ) is a photographer, composer, and video game producer from Urbana, Illinois. He completed both a bachelors and a masters degree in music composition at the University of Illinois in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Prior to finishing his masters degree, Cubberly attended the University of Melbourne in Australia, studying with the composer Warren Burt. While Cubberly was in Urbana, he played with local rock groups in the Champaign-Urbana area including Desafinado and the 5 Penny Theatre. In addition, he regularly contributed entries on music in the Champaign-Urbana online news source Smile Politely.
Cubberly joined Volition Studios, a video game studio based in Champaign, as a tester in 2007. He became the audio assistant for the game Saints Row 2 the following year. He eventually became a senior producer with the studio, serving in this capacity until the studio's closure in 2023. He now works as a senior producer for the video game studio Crystal Dynamics in San Mateo, California.
