Description: History Graduate Student Association File (1968-72, 1982-92, 2003-04), including constitution, by-laws, agenda and abstracts of meetings, committee reports, correspondence, directories, questionnaires, election ballots, newsletters, newspaper clippings, departmental announcements and reports and flyers concerning changes in the History Department's graduate program, departmental events, HGSA sponsored activities, advisory problems, admission requirements, graduate student funding, preliminary exams, teaching assistantships, teaching assistant orientation, job placement and the retention of Instructor Robert Frank. The series includes 1970 interview summaries of opinions of faculty on HGSA organizational goals and representation on department committees, a listing of faculty sympathetic to HGSA, and correspondence, minutes, questionnaires and reports concerning the College of Liberal arts and science study committee on teaching assistants, including data on other Big Ten Universities, particularly the 1970 assistants' strike at the University of Wisconsin. The series also includes the Council on Program Education's report on the History department (1984).
