Historical Note: Sam Reese (1950-) is Associate Professor Emeritus of Music Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He joined the faculty as Associate Professor in 1996 and retired in 2007. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from Eastern Illinois University in 1972, a Masters in music education from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1977, and an Ed.D. in music education and aesthetic education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981. His primary areas of research focus on technology-based music instruction, foundations of music education, and middle school music instruction. While on Illinois' music faculty Reese was a frequent presenter at national and international conferences, workshops, and seminars, including at the National Association for Music Education national conference.
