Description: Papers of George Schlegel Bonn (1913- ), professor of library science (1971-76), including biographical resumes and lists of publications, copies of published articles, library surveys and reports written as a consultant to libraries in the United States and India, work on national and international committees, papers read at conferences, seminars and institutes, general correspondence, and correspondence, memoranda, course notes and outlines, letters of recommendation, and personnel forms relating to positions at Northwestern University (1949-51), Rice Institute (1951-53), New York Public Library (1953, Chief of Science and Technology Division, 1958-64), Keio University, Japan (Fulbright recipient and visiting professor, 1953-55), Rutgers (1956-65), University of Hawaii Graduate School of Library Studies (Associate Dean, 1965-67), University of Delhi, India (Library consultant and university professor, 1967-71), and Illinois. The series includes Bonn's master's thesis (University of Chicago, 1951); New York Public Library's 50th Anniversary Award to Bonn, correspondence with Jesse H. Shera, Lester Asheim, Lawrence Kipp, Jack Dalton, and Dorothy Parker; a letter from S. R. Ranganathan; correspondence relating to Bonn's work as Rockefeller Foundation library advisor to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (1970-71); and surveys of Indian libraries, Canadian libraries (the "Bonn Report"), and the Hanford Technical Library.
