Scope and Contents of the Materials

Consists of a portfolio of photograph negatives and slides (1987-1992) taken by Steve Warmowski (Class of '92) for the Daily Illini. Also includes Students for Environmental Concerns (SECS) newsletters and materials designed by Warmowski, as well as personal book projects by other Daily Illini graphic artists.

Biographical Note

Steve Warmowski grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. He graduated St. Patrick's High School, and started at the University of Illinois-Urbana in August of 1987. He started working for the Daily Illini in its final year in the basement of Illini Hall. He later was a photographer and photo editor when the DI was located at Green and First streets. Warmowski graduated spring 1992 (after taking a semester off for internships at newspapers in Saginaw and Muskegon, Michigan). After graduation Warmowski worked at the LaSalle-Peru News-Tribune, Freeport Journal-Standard, Decatur Herald & Review, Jacksonville Journal-Courier.
