Description: Papers of the Richmond Family – primarily Jack C. Richmond (1917-2011) (B.A., Agriculture, 1942), his wife, Marjorie Laird “Marge” Richmond (1929-2017) and his mother, Mildred A. Hummel Richmond (1894-1988) consist of autographed items (by Dike Eddleman, Lou Henson, Lon Kruger, Bill Self, Justin Spring, Lou Tepper, and Bruce Weber), correspondence, donation/philanthropy publicity materials, DVDs (of interviews with and tributes to the Richmonds, as well as a 10 year review of the Richmond Studio), photographs, programs (for groundbreakings and other events), and University of Illinois Foundation materials. Also includes a basketball autographed by the 1983-1984 UI Men’s Basketball Big 10 Championship team and an Illini Hockey puck from Johnston’s Sport Shop.
The Richmonds were avid philanthropists and supporters of the University of Illinois. They funded the endowment for the men’s head basketball coach, the Richmond Studio for the College of Media, the Richmond Gallery at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center, and the renovation of the clock tower at the Champaign County Courthouse.
