Consists of a 19th century Melodeon, documenting the work of the Rock Island Instrument Company.

Biographical Note

Janice Clark Impey (1928-2022) was a lifelong musician and music educator. A graduate of Dundee High School in Carpentersville, Illinois in 1945, she received her BA in piano performance and music education from the University of Illinois in 1949. At Illinois, she also completed an MFA  in choral conducting and education in 1950 and coursework towards a PhD in the years that followed. She conducted a middle school choir in Park Ridge, IL until 1957, when she married Richard Impey. The couple relocated to Arlington Heights, IL, where she founded the Southminister Presbyterian Church Choir; she would direct the ensemble for more than thirty years. From 1980 until her retirement in 1996, Impey taught at Thomas Junior High School in Arlington Heights. During this time she also served as a lecturer and chapter president for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. After moving to Columbus, North Carolina in 1996, she worked with the Tryon Fine Arts Center. In 2010, she moved to Urbana, Illinois, where she died on October 12, 2022.
