Description: Nancy E. Westcott was an atmospheric scientist for the Illinois State Water Survey – a division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois.
The Nancy E. Wescott papers include papers from Bernice Ackerman. Ackerman was a meteorologist who worked for the Illinois State Water Survey. Westcott used Ackerman's research in her own work; therefore, the papers of Ackerman that Westcott possessed are included in this collection. While these can be found in the Bernice Ackerman series, they are also mixed in with the rest of the collection. The papers also include projects that Wescott worked on such as Metromex, PACE, Urban Boundary Layer, studies of fog, VIN, and various radar research studies. These papers include data and graphs, satellite images, maps, research notes, publications, maps, correspondence, meeting notes, some conferences, chapter drafts, grant proposals and progress reports, and VHS's, cassettes, and audio tapes. Westcott's original arrangement was kept; therefore, some papers for the projects can be found in a different project's subseries.
This collection is arranged into 2 series. Series 1: Bernice Ackerman, 1955-1988, arranged by Westcott's original arrangement. Series 2: Projects, 1948-2006, arranged by subseries alphabetically and by Westcott's original arrangement within.
