Description: Halbert E. Gulley was a Professor of Speech (1948-1967) and Head of the Division of General Studies (1962-1967) at the University of Illinois. Professor Gulley was the author of several books on communication, including Discussion, Conference, and Group Processes (1968), Essentials of Debate (1968), and Communication and Group Study (1977).
The papers of Halbert E. Gulley contain awards, correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, speeches, press releases, drafts, research files, and publications mostly from his time at the University of Illinois. This collection also contains letters from Robert Bone to the Gulley family, written from post-war Europe. Finally, included are campaign materials, speeches, writings, and correspondence of Illinois General Assemblyman Roy E. Gulley.
The papers are organized into two series. Series 1, Subject files, 1906-2005, organized alphabetically; and Series 2, Publications, 1942-1977, arranged chronologically.
