Description: Papers of Joyce D. Meyer include information from her school years at Gale Elementary School and copies of the Sullivan High School Streak underground newspaper and the Chicago Jewish Youth Council Social Action Newsletter. This series contains records of Meyer's coursework and teaching assistantship during her time at the University of Illinois (1970s-1980s). As a feminist and LGBT rights activist, Meyer collected flyers, articles, and newspaper clippings about the Equal Rights Amendment (1980) and the Grassroots Group of Second Class Citizens (1982-1983). Meyer's 1982 Sangamon County Jail journal and correspondence are maintained within this record series. Multiple petitions and letters and Meyer's work with WEFT, Parkland College Lesbian/Gay Organization, the Women's Resources Center's Feminist Activity Academy, and the Archives Research Center are also included. Newspaper clippings, campaign information, and primary results document Meyer's run for Champaign City Council in 1990-1991.
The record series also contains chains used for original Days of Rebellion (June 1982), an anti-apartheid armband (Artifact #601), and multiple protest buttons and stickers are included.
