Scope and Contents of the Materials

Consists of contracts, photographs, promotional materials, test pressings, correspondence, audio recordings, news clippings, reviews, press kits, and posters documenting the activities of the Hammerhead Records record label from 1992-2000.  Local recording artists managed by Hammerhead Records include Absinthe Blind, Third Stone, and the Funky Butt Drum Club.

Biographical Note

Hammerhead Records was founded in Champaign, IL in 1993 by Paxton, IL native Todd Thorstenson (MBA '93, Duke University).  Between 1993 and 2000, Hammerhead Records promoted and funded recordings for musical artists in and around Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, representing a variety of music genres including rock, funk, metal, and pop.
