Historical Note:

Glen L. Maze was born June 5, 1928, to Leonard and Mary Fortenberry Maze. Maze served in the U.S. Air Force, the Alabama National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1978. Maze was employed at Snead College for 35 years. He built a music program that was known for its quality and served as its head for over 20 years. He retired from Snead in 1992. Mr. Maze served as music director at Boaz First Baptist Church for 23 years where he created a full music program. He was minister of music for several years at First Baptist Church in Guntersville and also served as interim music director for several churches in the area. He was a founding member of the Mountain Valley Arts Council and served as its first president. He also helped establish the Mountain Valley Chorus and served as its first director. He worked with the Choccolocco Council of Boy Scouts for several years. He died June 29, 2002.

He was named Civitan Man of the Year in 1982 and Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 1990.
