Kehm vs. Procter and Gamble Case File (1976-96), the case file of attorney Tom Riley for his successful product liability lawsuit, includes: medical research (1980-1982); Patricia Kehm's medical records (1980); Riley's correspondence (1980-1984); Procter and Gamble correspondence; Tom Riley's notes; affidavits (1983); depositions (1981-1983); trials briefs (1982-1984); testimony (1982-1983); Tom Riley's book on the case (1986); newspaper clippings (1980-1989); and materials for related cases. Riley represented the estate of Patricia Kehm, who died of Toxic Shock Syndrome believed to be caused by the Procter and Gamble manufactured Rely tampons. Tom Riley is a trial lawyer from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He represented the Kehm estate in a successful lawsuit against the Procter and Gamble corporation for the death of Patricia Kehm from Toxic Shock Syndrome caused by Rely tampons. Riley wrote a book on the case called "Price of a Life: One Woman's Death from Toxic Shock," (Adler and Adler, 1986). Though he won the trial, Riley was tried for contempt of court for violating a protective order and releasing documents containing trade secrets from the Procter and Gamble company.
