Land Acquisition Records include abstracts of title, warranty deeds, agreements and contracts for purchase and correspondence relating to the purchase of land in Urbana for the original campus from Morris and Mary Burt, Albert and Margaret Carle, Jesse and Alma Burt, Jonathan and Amanda Stoughton, and John and Elvira Babcock (1867); Champaign County land from C. R. Griggs (1864, 1867); land at Green and Goodwin (1913, 1944-1953); land on Green and Stoughton Streets (in Joseph Nelson's Addition)  from the Wesley Foundation (1886, 1930, 1954, 1964-65) , and in Champaign (Stadium Drive and Hessel Park) from J. F. Hessel (1925), Lewis S. Colbert, Emma and John O. Alms (1947) and the vacating of a section of Hessel Boulevard by the City of Champaign (1926); transfer of title for Student-Staff Apartments from the Foundation to the University of Illinois; and Township 19, Range 9E land South of St. Mary's Road and east of the railroad tracks purchased from Fred Perceval .  The majority of the abstracts and deeds are photocopies made by the Office of the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.
