Name: Hewitt, Barnard (1906-1987)

Historical Note: Barnard Wolcott Hewitt (1906-1987) was a professor of Theater. Hewitt served as a professor of theater at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1948 until his retirement in 1977. During his time at the University, Hewitt directed or contributed to several productions by Harry Partch including The Bewitched (1956), Revelation in the Courthouse Park (1959), the Delusion of the Fury (1965), and Water! Water! (1961). Hewitt also wrote several plays of his own including The Cocklepfiefer Case (1935) and Let Joy Be Unrefined (1931).
