Maurice C. Tanquary | University of Illinois Archives
Photograph of Dr. Maurice Cole Tanquary (A.B. 1907, A.M. 1908, Ph.D. 1912), from the booklet Crocker Land Expedition to the North Polar Regions (May 12 1913).
From the text:
"Maurice C. Tanquary was born in Illinois, though his parents and his grandparents for several generations were of New England birth and training. He was graduated from the University of Illinois in the class of 1907 and continued his college work there to include the degree of Ph. D. He specialized in zoology, more particularly entomology, and he is well fitted to take charge of the zoological work of the party, including that on fishes and the mammals. Psychology was one of his important minor studies. He is thirty-one years old and is full of the life and vigor that will be invaluable to the party during the long hours of darkness in the second winter."
