Scope and Contents of the Materials

Hospital and Health Care Issues File maintained by Michele Thompson, special assistant to President Stanley Ikenberry contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, planning reports, draft agreements, and audiocassette tapes concerning Chicago and Cook County Health Care Summit relating to Board of Trustees, University, Chicago, Cook County, and State of Illinois efforts to develop a cooperative agreement between the University and Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center and Cook County Hospital, and relating to issues of in-service training for medical students, health care financing, and provision of health care on Chicago's south and west sides.  This series includes material on the health care summit and resultant "Chicago and Cook County Health Care Action Plan" (1990).
