Community Studies and Surveys File including correspondence with businessmen and chamber of commerce secretaries and publications about marketing, shopping surveys, advertising and promotion and institutes and clinics in Illinois cities. The series includes files on the Council on Community Development (1958-64), the Illinois Board of Economic Development (1962-65), the Illinois Retail Merchants Association and regional surveys and research projects.
Formed in 1948,1 the Bureau of Business Management is an extension service that helps small businessmen with management problems through publications, conferences, extension courses, library service, management counseling, and by making research studies. Until 1954, it was called the Business Management Service.2 Discontinued in 1976 and merged into Executive Development Center.3
