Administrative History of Creating Unit
In 1957, the Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of the Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration that a Department of Finance be established by the transfer of faculty and courses from the Department of Economics.1 The department as the Bailey Chair of Banking and Finance.2 In addition to a B.S. in Finance, graduate degrees are offered.3 The selection of courses includes business and finance, investments, money, banking, insurance, urban land economics and real estate.4
