Jerry Doll holds a plaque recognizing him as Outstanding Junior in Field and Furrow with a caption accompanying the photo that reads, Scholarship, leadership, and personality are necessary attributes to be chosen outstanding junior or senior. Every year students fill out application forms in competition for this event. The outstanding senior is awarded $200 from the National Plant Food Institute, while the outstanding junior is awarded $100 from the Illinois Fertilizer Industries Association. The winners are announced at the annual Agronomy Award Banquet.
