Microfilm copy of journals of Charles Byford Garrigus '36. The five reels "An American Journal" cover: 1.  February 19, 1939 - February 25, 1942; 2.  March 6, 1942 - March 29, 1946; 3.  April 1, 1946 - January 3, 1954; 4.  1954-67; 5.  1967-82 and contain personal observations on life and politics (1939-82); description of the Home Front in World War II, a move from Illinois to Oregon and California, lists of expenses for family and collections of his poetry.  Volume 6 on "Aging and Retirement Activities" covers 1982-1994 and includes recollections of his wife Fern, activities with family and friends, and poetry.  The series includes "Echoes of Being" (1973), a collection of poems by the poet laureate of California.
