Sarah Ann Long is a musicologist and educator. Long has earned a bachelor's of music education from Bowling Green State University (1998) and both a masters in musicology (2002) and a PhD in musicology (2008) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She was the recipient of the Newberry Library Annette Kade Fellowship (2004-2005) and a University of Illinois Graduate College Dissertation Completion Fellowship (2006-2007). During her graduate studies, she also served as research assistant and archivist for the Musicological Archives for Renaissance Manuscript Studies. Long's dissertation was entitled, "The Chanted Mass in Parisian Ecclesiastical and Civic Communities, 1480-1540: Local Liturgical Practices in Manuscripts and Early Printed Service Books."

Following her studies at the University of Illinois, Long became a postdoctoral research fellow and visiting instructor at the Alamire Foundation in Belgium. She is the author of two books, Antiphonaria Catalogue of Notated Office Manuscripts Preserved in Flanders, c. 1100-c. 1800 (2012) and Music, Liturgy, and Confraternity Devotions in Paris and Tournai, 1300-1550 (2021). Long is and associate professor of musicology at Michigan State University.
