Stephen L. Pouliot (1945- ) is a television writer, producer, and film director. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he graduated from Marquette University with a degree in journalism in 1967. In 1969 he began a masters degree at the University of Southern California. His master thesis resulted in the documentary The Dreamer that Remains. In this project Pouliot collaborated with Betty Freeman, who produced film stills of the production, and Danlee Mitchell. Following the film's release in 1972, Pouliot actively corresponded with Freeman and many of Partch's biographers, including Philip Blackburn and Bob Gilmore.
After graduating with his masters in 1973, Pouliot joined Bob Banner Associates, serving as the director of development. In this role, he produced shows featuring musicians like Perry Como, Julie Andrews, and Liberace. He also won several awards for his television specials, including a Peabody Award and Film Advisory Board Award of Excellence.
In 1982 he formed the Cabrillo Place, Inc. television studios. In this role, he produced Ford Theater gala specials in honor of presidents Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama. Pouliot was also involved in the production of eight Academy Awards ceremonies from 1996 to 2010.
