Historical Note:

John McGrann (1905-1975) was born on April 13, 1905 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Leo J. and Anna Siefert Elbert. He was adopted by Frank and Blanche McGrann at age 17. McGrann attended St. Mary's Parochial School, St. Mary's Business Academy, and Mercersburg Academy, graduating in 1925. In 1934, he formed the Farmers Supply Co. with Lloyd Groff, continuing with the firm until his retirement in 1968. He also served as a director of the Conestoga National Bank and as the vice president of the board of directors of St. Anne's Home for the Aged.

McGrann also served as the peridsent of the Whatglen Farms, which was founded by his father, Frank. McGrann was an avid gardener and model train enthusiast. After his father's (Frank's) death, he began researching band musicians. McGrann Died on March 5, 1975 in Lancaster, PA .
