Historical Note: Terry Miller Brown grew up in Champaign, the middle child of a family of six. She attended Central High School in Champaign, earning her GED in the late 1970s. As a teenager, Brown was an avid concertgoer, attending events in the CU area including Chances R, the Hitchin' Post, Prairie Lands, and Panama Reds. In the 1980s, she worked as a bartender at the Holiday Inn in Champaign, meeting touring bands that stayed in the hotel. She attended the 1985 Farm Aid benefit concert at Memorial Stadium. After the death of her mother in 2008, she became a photographer. Soon after, she started photographing local bands in the Central Illinois Area. Brown founded the CU Bands and Fans podcast and social media blog in 2012, interviewing many of the bands she photographed.
