Affirmative Action Subject File (1968-89), including correspondence, reports, minutes and agendas, issuances, and program narratives relating to academic and nonacademic Affirmative Action policies and procedures, conferences, and roundtables.
On December 24, 1963, the University Committee on Human Relations and Equal Opportunity was established as the first of many steps to achieve the goal of equal opportunity.1 Among campus programs to deal with discrimination is the Office of Affirmative Action for Equal Opportunity, which was established in the budget of the Chancellor's Office in 1971-1972.2 In 1972, the Campus Council on Equal Opportunity was formed to integrate and oversee all affirmative action programs, including the Equal Opportunity Office. Its director serves on the Council.3
