Historical Note:

<p class='main'>When the College of Veterinary Medicine was established, it was proposed that subject fields form the basis for the establishment of departments. Following a 1945 curriculum study the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology was formed.<a href='#ftn1'><sup>1</sup></a> The Department contributes to the prevention and control of disease of all species of animal by providing instruction in anatomy and histology and laying the foundation for clinical applications of biological knowledge in the other departments.<a href='#ftn2'><sup>2</sup></a> In 1967, the name of the Department was changed to Veterinary Biological Structure to identify this function of instruction in biological science.<a href='#ftn3'><sup>3</sup></a></p>
