Historical Note:
In 1974, the Department of Zoology was divided INT the provisional departments of Genetics and Development and Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution. In 1976, the Board of Trustees approved the reorganization creating the latter department.1
On November 18, 1999, the Board of Trustees approved the redesignation of the department of Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution as the Department of Animal Biology.2
